During the demonstration it is possible to train and exercise with aqua-lung equipment. Just try it out and get a feel for it…Get the sensation of exploring the underwater world! Only half an hour (20km) towards the west of Heraklion and next to Agia Pelagia, you will find a romantic bay called Mononaftis. Here, and in the surrounding areas, you will find a variety of excellent diving sites with warm and crystal clear water. You will be charmed by the silent and peaceful inhabitants of the southern Mediterranean Sea with its rocky or sandy landscapes. Groupers, starfish, colourful sponges, octopus, moray eels and other Mediterranean fish and plants can be seen during your trip under water. Occasionally dolphins, small stingrays, barracudas and seahorses will join you. The location offers you more than just diving. Mononaftis is an ideal place to hide away from mass tourism and to spend a nice and relaxing day. You will find in Mononaftis apartments and small hotels for reasonable rates, two typical Greek taverns and a small mini market to provide you with all necessary items. Before and after your unforgettable experience you have the possibility to take your lunch in one of the taverns, stay on the beach or walk along the hiking trails. Or just take the snorkelling equipment that is at your disposition during the whole day and discover Crete's underwater world from the surface.

If you have a diving license (BSAC, PADI, NAUI, CMAS, etc.) you can enjoy various interesting and exciting dives in the North of the island. Most of the dives (where underwater lives such as groupers, eels, octopus and box fish abound) are from the shore where refreshment is available straight after the dive. Because of the variety of sites an experienced member of the diving team will come along with you: showing you the beautiful bay and the surrounding areas. The depth varies between 0 and 40 m reachable from the beach or the boat, offering the best supposition for all level of divers.

The diving base provides to its costumers a terrace of 120 m². A classroom, changing cabins, sweet-water shower, toilets and lockers are available. We also take care of the transfer from Zorbas Beach to the base and back. Non-divers are welcome to come along to the base and have the possibility to rent beach chairs and umbrellas on the beach.

 The dive centre is equipped with 24 m³ BAUER compressors and complete and latest up-to-date equipment from Aqualung and Cressi.Sub for 20 divers. The tanks can be used for DIN and YOKE versions. The shop also provides equipment service and sales as well as rental of equipment for reasonable rates. Qualified technicians formed by Aqualung and Cressi.Sub take care of the maintenance of all our equipment. Of course they are also supplied with an emergency kit including oxygen. The team at the diving base consists of international recognized and experienced instructors and dive masters. They can communicate with you in English, French, German, Dutch, Italian and Greek.

If you are over the age of 12 and without any diving experience, this program offers you the great opportunity to experience the fun and excitement of diving in only one day of your holiday. You will be under the direct supervision of a qualified PADI instructor during the whole program.

You will follow a course of instructions (duration of about 45 minutes) given by an instructor speaking French, English, German, Dutch or Greek. Other languages are on request. He will explain to you the basic of diving and the most important things to know before going under water. After the theory you will be split in small groups of 4 people experiencing their fist dive, guided by three diving professionals. You will never be left alone under the water! The guides will introduce you to a new world full of fascination during a dive of 45 minutes and a maximum depth of 10 meters.

During the tour you will meet the inhabitants of the Mediterranean Sea like sponges, sea stars, octopus, snails, and different kind of fishes and with a little bit of luck you will also see dolphins, barracudas or seahorses.

At the end of the day, every active participant will get a certification card for his discovery of diving from the instructor. At the same time there will be personal underwater shots available at the shop. After this program, you are allowed to dive for 14 more days under direct supervision of a dive master or instructor.

You can follow diving courses on different levels: it starts with the first step, an introduction like the Discover Scuba Diving program, up to the first professional certification. With the snorkelling program you can experience the underwater world of one of the most beautiful bays on the north coast of Crete. A relaxing day in and out of the water is waiting for you! New and modern snorkel equipment is provided by the dive centre. You will participate in a theory course where we explain to you the snorkelling equipment, the underwater world and the best way to use your fins, mask and snorkel. You will have 2 guided tours that bring you outside the bay and for the rest of the day you can feel free to go your own separate way. The instructors are available to answer your questions and if you want to give you useful tips on snorkelling. Don't miss this experience.

For beginners, it is best to join a sub-course within the Open Water Diver course. The duration of this course is three days. This course opens diving to those of you with time constraints, and those interested in diving in groups and tours guided by a certified dive master or instructor. It invites you to experience diving and encourages you to continue training to the Open Water Diver level and beyond. After finishing this course, you have the possibility to dive under the supervision of a professional dive master (or higher degree) until a depth of not deeper than 12 meters.

The course includes: three theory lessons, pool sessions, two dives in the sea, transfers from Zorbas Beach to the dive centre, all necessary equipment, insurance, PADI Scuba Diver certification card.

You have to be over 12 years of age and hold medical statement from your doctor that you are fit for diving.

Open water diving is also a course for beginners with few or no diving experience. The duration of this course is four or five days. This course offers you the opportunity to become a fully qualified and independent Open Water Diver. You will learn the basic skills of diving in order to enjoy your future dives. With this license you can participate in diving excursions all over the world. The course includes: five theory lessons, pool sessions, four dives in the open sea, transfers from Zorbas Beach to the dive centre, all necessary diving equipment, insurance, PADI Open Water Diver certification card. You have to be over 12 years of age and hold medical statement from your doctor that you are fit for diving.

Advanced open water diving: This course adds some more fun and experience to your dives! The duration of this course is two to three days. Whether you’re newly certified or have experienced hundreds of dives, when you are looking for new underwater experiences, new skills and fun, sign up for this course. The course includes: five theory lessons, two core dives, three elective dives, transfers from Zorbas beach to the dive centre, insurance, PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certification card. You have to be an Open Water Diver or equivalent (e.g. CMAS 1*), complete equipment (yours or rented from us) including octopus, SPG, lamp, knife, compass, depth gauge and BCD

Serious Fun is Rescue diving! The duration of this course is four to five days. Enjoyable or fun might seem unlikely descriptions for a program about preventing dive accidents, but that’s how most certified Rescue Divers describe the course they attended!

The course includes: four theory lessons, five practical dive sessions, transfers from Zorbas Beach to the dive centre, insurance, PADI Rescue Diver certification card.

You have to be trained in CPR and First Aid within the past 2 years, Advanced Open Water Diver license or equivalent (e.g. BSAC Dive Leader, CMAS 2*) with minimum 20 dives logged, complete diving gear (yours or rented).
