Active holiday in Crete: Zorbas Island is a small-scale apartment complex on the north coast of Crete in Kokkini Hani. We have 20 apartments and 2 holiday homes directly next to a sandy beach. From the apartments, the terrace and the swimming pool you have a magnificent view of the sea with Dia Island on the horizon. During dinner on the terrace, you can watch the sun set in the sea or behind a mountain. Around the apartments is a beautiful garden with our herbs, vegetables, banana trees and many other plants and flowers that do not grow in Northern Europe.
Crete is a popular holiday island where there is something for everyone to do. Whether you like to relax on the beach or at the pool or if you are active, you can do it all during a holiday in Crete.
Excursions on Crete
We organize excursions for our guests ourselves, where we like to go to places that are not described in the tourist guides. Here you will see the real Crete! We organize walks through olive fields and villages where you will encounter few people along the way. But we also climb and clamber through various gorges. So if you like a little more challenge, that’s a must. In some gorges there is water all year round, so wet feet are guaranteed. Along the way we will have lunch at beautiful places that you would not have visited otherwise. Please see our page about excursions.
On the electric bike you will see a lot of the Cretan landscape and the beautiful villages that Crete has. Thanks to the battery, you get support, but it’s still hard pedaling every now and then. The many olive trees are interspersed with beautiful views of the many mountains of Crete.
But there is also plenty to do and see for the water lover. Explore the underwater world while snorkelling, sailing to Dia Island or on the water with an old Greek fishing boat. Choices enough!
We also organize cooking workshops to introduce you to the Greek cuisine. Make your own various Greek dishes in a beautiful olive field and eat them of course. On our excursion page you can see which excursions we organize.
If you want to explore the island yourself, we can help you rent a car. But public transport (bus) is also well organized on Crete. From Kokkini Hani there are regular buses to Heraklion, Hersonissos and Agios Nikolaos, among others. From Heraklion you can go to many other towns on the island by bus.
Holiday in Crete
After a whole day in the open air, you can relax with a drink on our terrace before enjoying all the delicacies that the Greek cuisine has to offer. We offer our accommodation on a half board basis. You start the day with a delicious breakfast and end it with various Greek dishes. The Mediterranean cuisine is also ideal for vegetarians, there are various vegetable dishes. Many of the vegetables and herbs come from our own garden.
We can also help you find good flights. Most time of the year there are many direct flights from various Dutch, Belgian and German airports to Heraklion. From there it is about 20 minutes by car to Zorbas Island.
