The charms of a fisherman’s village
In the most South Western part of Crete you will find the fisherman’s village Paleochora. A small traditional village where you intensively can enjoy the Greek cuisine. Directly next to the sea is the traditional tavern of Manos & Maria and their apartments.

Traditional Crete
Paleochora can only be reached via the city of Chania, about 75 kilometers southwards. It is a wonderful route by car to a Cretan village, where time seems to stand still. From the apartments you are within 2 minutes at the pebble beach, the sandy beach is at 5 minute walking distance. At night the streets are turned into pedestrian streets and all taverns put their tables and chairs on the street. Now you can really enjoy the Greek cuisine and the hospitality of the local people.

The apartments and tavern are run by a hospitable Greek family. The apartments are traditional en simply furnished, but have everything you need. The kitchen area has a refrigerator and hob and of course there is air-conditioning. In the family tavern you can enjoy a tasteful Greek meal with a stunning view over the sea.

Excursions
There are many places to visit from the accommodation Paleochora. The peninsula Elafonissi is really breathtaking! Elafonissi is also called the “pink beach” and has the clearest seawater throughout Europe. From Paleochora you can walk through the Samaria gorge or spot dolphins during a boat trip.

Cretan bananas are small, highly aromatic, and intensely sweet "mini" or "baby" bananas (8–10 cm) primarily cultivated in southern Crete, particularly around Arvi. Grown in greenhouses and open air, they are available year-round—peaking Aug-Nov—and are often sold on the stalk.
