Reservations 2022: we have started with the reservations for 2022. We notice that a lot of people look forward to a holiday in 2022. This year we will be open from 28 March till December 2022. To avoid disappointments, we advise you to book early, as it is already very busy with requests.

Summer agenda for Crete – Season 2022: Every year we have an extensive excursion program with a number of regular excursions and some new excursions on Crete. You are probably interested in what activities we will organise at Zorbas Island during the coming season. In this agenda for Crete we provide an overview of activities that we think might interest you. Mainly special excursions and activities will be highlighted here. By this we mean, for example, multi-day excursions, such as cooking weeks and hiking weeks on Crete. But you can also find more information about new excursions that we have added to our program (summer and winter on Crete).

Greece travel advice – Coronavirus – Covid-19 rules in Greece: We adhere to all EU/Greece law and safety rules, so you can have a carefree holiday. That is possible from March 2022 till December 2022.

New in 2022 – Hike and bike holiday adventurous walking and cycling tours: This year we have set up new walks and cycling routes. Here we give an overview of these new possibilities for an adventurous hike and bike holiday on Crete. You can walk and cycle these routes with us, but we also have GPS options to do these routes individually. Guests who have hiked and/or cycled with us more often will also be pleasantly surprised by these new routes. You can book this as a package deal: three hikes and two cycle tours in eight days or vice versa: two hikes and three cycle tours.

Sailing to the Greek Islands

We depart from the port of Heraklion on large Bavaria boats with various sleeping cabins, shower and toilet to different islands. During the day we are on the way, in the evening we are in the various ports. The trip to Santorini is a unique experience. We sail past many islands to the Kaldera of Santorini. Here we sail through with beautiful views of steep walls of volcanic rock. Many people can say that they have seen the Kaldera of Santorini, but few people have sailed through it.

We will stay here for one night before sailing on to Naxos. Here we visit the island. Via Amorgos and Anafi we sail back to Heraklion.

Inclusive: transport to and from the boat, boat including captain, sleeping on the boat in the harbor, breakfast, simple lunch on board and water.

Exclusive: overnight stay in an accommodation on the island (if chosen), drinks and dinner.

Camping in an olive grove: Greece is for many people a favourite holiday destination. Sun, sea, culture, nature, traditions and friendly people are the main reasons why people go on holiday to Greece. Most part of the year the weather is perfect to enjoy the outdoors. Join us in a fun camping in the olive field experience, including walking in the Cretan nature and a freshly cooked outdoor dinner!

Cooking lessons overview: We arrange holidays on Crete including Greek cooking lessons. In 3 to 8 days you will learn the secrets of the Greek kitchen. We bring you along for shopping and go to different locations in the Cretan mountains where you learn to cook Greek dishes. We also offer one day cooking workshops in the olive field, where you will learn to cook a small number of Greek dishes.

Workshop bronze casting:  At our local bronze casting father and son still cast the bronze in the same way as the ancient Greeks. It’s possible to follow a workshop and create something yourself. During the workshop, Zamac (silver-colored mixture) is used because it melts faster and is therefore less dangerous. The workshop lasts approximately 2-3 hours.

Unknown Crete excursions: On this excursion we take you to special places on Crete that are unknown to many people. It’s a day full of culture (small villages, churches, monasteries, pottery, bronze caster etc.) and nature. We show you different places on Crete and go for short walks. There are many different routes, so there is always a selection of interesting spots.

Rent a holiday home: also this year, you can rent a beautiful, detached house on a mountain, in an olive field. This house is fully equipped a restful week in the mountains and an active week at Zorbas. For more information, click here.

At the moment we are busy at Zorbas with the preparations for next season. The doors and windows of the apartments in the third block will be replaced. The family house at Zorbas is completely renovated: from inside and outside. And of course, Zorbas will get a 2022-look!

As said, we’re busy with creating new excursions. New walks and hikes, but also new cycling routes. In 2022 more electric mountain bikes will be bought so we can organise more cycling excursions and take more guests with us on a tour.
